Dr. Thomas Kupiec
is the CEO of Analytical Research Laboratories (ARL) and DNA Solutions Inc. Dr. Kupiec received his Ph.D in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center College of Pharmacy. He currently serves as a graduate faculty member at the OU Health Sciences Center and has held teaching appointments at several universities. He has published numerous articles and abstracts in a variety of fields including pharmaceutical sciences, forensic sciences and pharmacogenomics. Dr. Kupiec is often requested as a speaker at national pharmaceutical conferences and has spoken at ASHP, IACP, ACA and for state pharmaceutical associations.

Dr. Kupiec’s vision of entrepreneurial research is manifested by his responsibilities at DNA Solutions and ARL, which include supplying technical expertise and business development in the pharmaceutical and forensic fields. Additionally, Dr. Kupiec offers consultation services for a variety of pharmacy related fields as well as expert witness testimony in the fields of forensic toxicology and pharmaceutical sciences. He has testified in over a hundred cases, both civil and criminal, in federal, state and municipal courts.

His professional experience includes various appointments at Northwest Toxicology Inc. (NWT), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Oklahoma City Police Department. Dr. Kupiec is affiliated with numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Society of Forensic Toxicologists, and Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society.


Dr. Brandt Cassidy
is the Laboratory Director for DNA Solutions. He has over 20 years of laboratory experience in DNA analysis and is nationally recognized as an expert in DNA research and analysis. Dr. Cassidy joined the company in 1999 when DNA Solutions purchased Ardmore Biological Analysis, in which Dr. Cassidy served as President and CEO. Prior experience includes serving as a Scientist with the prestigious Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation, and as an adjunct Assistant Professor with Oklahoma State University.

Dr. Cassidy is an experienced lecturer and writer, who has hosted and given numerous lectures to various groups including law enforcement, attorneys, state agencies and scientific breeders. He has authored numerous publications, abstracts and book chapters.

Dr. Cassidy is an active member of numerous professional groups including Association of Forensic DNA Analysts and Administrators, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and HITA (Human Identification Trade Association). Dr. Cassidy received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Iowa State University and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.


Dr. Nicole Vu
is the Scientific Director for Analytical Research Laboratories and it's sister company DNA Solutions. She is focused on ensuring the science and technology that both companies utilize is of the highest quality. Before joining the team in 2004, Dr. Vu spent over a decade with the Federal Aviation Administration in the Forensic Toxicology and Bioaeronautical Sciences Research Laboratory where she served as a Research Chemist and later as Team Leader to conduct research in Aviation Toxicology and Toxicogenomics.

Her professional experiences also includes appointments as Specialist in Immunohematology at OU Medical Center, and adjunct professor in Forensic Serology at the University of Central Oklahoma.

Dr. Vu is affiliated with various professional organizations including American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, and is an active member of Institutional Biosafety Committee at OU Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Vu educational credentials include a bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry from The University of the Ozarks, a bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from Arkansas State University and a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from The University of Oklahoma, Health Sciences Center. Dr. Vu has also received a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from The Collge of Pharmacy at the University of Oklahoma, Health Sciences Center. She currently serves as a graduate faculty member at the OU Health Sciences Center and has adjunct teaching appointments at OU College of Pharmacy.


Lance Lanier, R.Ph.
is the Director of Business Development for both Analytical Research Laboratories and DNA Solutions, Inc. He oversees the sales and marketing objectives for both companies. Lance is extremely personable and outgoing. His philosophy is that every client is a VIP.

Lance received his BS in Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK in 1994. His father was an independent pharmacy owner and Lance spent his early years stocking shelves, delivering prescriptions and visiting with customers.

After graduating from pharmacy school, Lance spent several years in Texas managing pharmacies for both independent and chain retail pharmacies.

Before coming to ARL, Lance was Director of Pharmacy at an Oklahoma hospital. He uses his experience and personality to establish relationships with each of our clients.


Gary Cook
is the Director of Finance and Administration of Analytical Research Laboratories (ARL) and DNA Solutions Inc.  Gary is responsible for finance, strategic planning, human resources, information technology and customer service.

Prior to joining ARL and DNA, Gary was corporate controller for Vac Corporation, a U.S. subsidiary of Siemens.  He also served in several financial management positions for Fleming Companies in Oklahoma City.

Gary received his bachelor’s degree in finance from The University of Central Oklahoma and is a certified public accountant.


Tommy Means
is the Quality Manager for Analytical Research Laboratories (ARL) and DNA Solutions Inc.  He is focused on ensuring that Quality Systems for both companies are functional and operational.  This includes ISO, FDA, USP, DEA, EPA & AABB compliance and regulations.

Tommy’s professional background includes work in Gas Chromatography, Project Management, Quality Control / Quality Assurance and Vendor Auditing.  Tommy is a member of the American Society of Quality, The Institute of Validation Technology & American Association of Blood Banks.

Prior to joining ARL and DNA, Tommy was part of the Research and Development team of Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company. Tommy received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Northwestern Oklahoma State University.


Michel Ben, MS
is the Laboratory Supervisor for Analytical Research Laboratories. His primary responsibilities include data review and approval for chemical analysis, development and validation of methods for cGMP, GLP purposes and FDA IND approval, drafting and composition of work instructions and standard operating procedures for instrument qualification/validation, instruction and training of new employees, and troubleshooting of complex formulation analysis utilizing USP, BP and other established methods. While working in the lab he developed and validated 30+ methods.

He is dedicated to maintaining our company mission that the laboratory provides exceptional service with reliable and timely data to all our clients.

Prior joining ARL, Michel Ben served as Chemistry and Physics instructor during his undergraduate and graduate studies.

Michel received his bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Yaoundé located in Cameroon, Central Africa and his Masters of Physics from the University of Oklahoma in Norman.


Jason McGuire
is the Project Manager for ARL’s microbiology department.  He has led in the development of  the department’s Sterility and Endotoxin testing, Environmental Monitoring Program, and Cleanroom Processes.  Previously, Jason was part of a research team involved in optimizing microbial catalysts and media formulations for bioethanol production.  His research background enables him to design sound experimental protocols and procedures for our clients.  He and his department are here to help you meet your microbiology needs.       

Jason received his Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Oklahoma.


Jesse Kemp, MSFS
is a Forensic Analyst for Analytical Research Laboratories and DNA Solutions. He is focused on ensuring that appropriate forensic practices are employed in the analysis of biological and chemical samples. In addition, he works closely with Dr. Thomas Kupiec in matters of litigation support for both forensic and pharmaceutical investigations. Jesse remains active in several scientific organizations including the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the Society of Forensic Toxicologists.

Jesse received his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Forensic Sciences and his master’s degree in Forensic Science, Criminalistics from the University of Central Oklahoma. Jesse is presently pursuing a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences (emphasis in Pharmacology/Toxicology) from the University of Oklahoma, Health Sciences Center.


Larry Trissel
is a consultant for Analytical Research Laboratories. He obtained his Pharmacy degree from Butler University and has a 39-year career that included positions in the United States Public Health Service, the National Institutes of Health, Food and Drug Administration, the National Cancer Institute, and the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Larry is best known as the author of the Handbook on Injectable Drugs, a core pharmacy reference work found in nearly every hospital and home care pharmacy in the United States and in most of the rest of the world as well.  He has also authored 5 other books currently in print and the new electronic resource Trissel’s 2 Clinical Pharmaceutics Database. In addition, he is the author or co-author of more than 233 articles, book chapters, editorials, etc. including 197 original research articles. Larry is a member of numerous professional organizations and societies, including the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the American Pharmacy Association.  Larry currently serves as a member of two USP Expert Committees on Sterile Compounding and for Non-sterile Compounding. He has been the recipient of a number of awards and honors throughout his career, including the APhA Distinguished Achievement Award in 2002 and the Award for Sustained Contributions to the Published Literature from ASHP in 1996. He was also selected to be a Distinguished Alumnus of Butler University in its Inaugural Class.


Edna Perry
has been a Client Service Representative for ARL since March 2003.  Originally from the Cleveland, Ohio area, Edna has been fortunate to experience living and working in many other states and other countries.  Before moving to Oklahoma City in 1999, Edna was employed for 12 years with a marine diesel engine repair company in San Diego, CA and Seattle, WA, where she served as Client Service Representative. 

Edna states that “Being a client service representative at ARL has a lot in common with my life in general….I am constantly meeting new people from many different places!  I am constantly amazed by the high quality of the people I am lucky enough to assist.  I would appreciate the opportunity to assist you, in any way I can.  All of us at ARL look forward to being your quality partner!”


Debbie Hunt joined ARL in early 2005 and serves in numerous capacities including Client Services. Before joining ARL, Debbie worked seven years at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, and five years in a private clinical setting.  Debbie says that time spent in a clinical setting gave her the opportunity to understand the importance of patient medications.

“When it comes to peoples lives, there is no room for error.  Patients must have their medications as quickly and accurately as possible.”  That is why Debbie takes a serious interest in her role as a Client Services Representative.  She wants to help ensure that your test results are accurate and released as quickly as possible.
