Dr. Phil Kemp, DABFT, is the laboratory director for Analytical Research Laboratories (ARL). He has over 27 years of laboratory experience in forensic toxicology. Dr. Kemp joined the company in 2009. Prior experience includes serving as Chief Toxicologist at the Office of the Chief Examiner in Oklahoma and Toxicology Chemist at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas.
Dr. Kemp received his bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Texas at Arlington, his Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of North Texas, and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Louisiana State University School of Medicine.
He currently serves as a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Toxicology. In addition, Dr. Kemp is a member of numerous professional groups including: Southwestern Association of Toxicologists, Society of Forensic Toxicologists, American Academy of Forensic Scientists, International Association of Forensic Toxicologists. He has lectured at the undergraduate and graduate levels at the University of Central Oklahoma and holds an Adjunct Associate Professor appointment at the University Of Oklahoma College Of Pharmacy. He has lectured in a variety of forums including scientific organizations, law enforcement and citizen groups, and state agencies. He has published numerous articles and abstracts in the fields of analytical and forensic toxicology. |

Dr. Nicole Vu is the scientific director for Analytical Research Laboratories and it's sister company DNA Solutions. She is focused on ensuring the science and technology that both companies utilize is of the highest quality. Before joining the team in 2004, Dr. Vu spent over a decade with the Federal Aviation Administration in the Forensic Toxicology and Bioaeronautical Sciences Research Laboratory where she served as a Research Chemist and later as Team Leader to conduct research in Aviation Toxicology and Toxicogenomics.
Her professional experiences also includes appointments as Specialist in Immunohematology at OU Medical Center, and adjunct professor in Forensic Serology at the University of Central Oklahoma.
Dr. Vu is affiliated with various professional organizations including American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, and is an active member of Institutional Biosafety Committee at OU Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Vu educational credentials include a bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry from The University of the Ozarks, a bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from Arkansas State University and a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from The University of Oklahoma, Health Sciences Center. Dr. Vu has also received a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from The College of Pharmacy at the University of Oklahoma, Health Sciences Center. She currently serves as a graduate faculty member at the OU Health Sciences Center and has adjunct teaching appointments at OU College of Pharmacy.

Tommy Means is the quality manager for Analytical Research Laboratories (ARL) and DNA Solutions Inc. He is focused on ensuring that Quality Systems for both companies are functional and operational. This includes ISO, FDA, USP, DEA, EPA & AABB compliance and regulations.
Tommy’s professional background includes work in Gas Chromatography, Project Management, Quality Control / Quality Assurance and Vendor Auditing. Tommy is a member of the American Society of Quality, The Institute of Validation Technology & American Association of Blood Banks.
Prior to joining ARL and DNA, Tommy was part of the Research and Development team of Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company. Tommy received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

Michel Ben, MS is the laboratory supervisor for Analytical Research Laboratories. His primary responsibilities include data review and approval for chemical analysis, development and validation of methods for cGMP, GLP purposes and FDA IND approval, drafting and composition of work instructions and standard operating procedures for instrument qualification/validation, instruction and training of new employees, and troubleshooting of complex formulation analysis utilizing USP, BP and other established methods. While working in the lab he developed and validated 30+ methods.
He is dedicated to maintaining our company mission that the laboratory provides exceptional service with reliable and timely data to all our clients.
Prior joining ARL, Michel Ben served as Chemistry and Physics instructor during his undergraduate and graduate studies. Michel received his bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Yaoundé located in Cameroon, Central Africa and his Masters of Physics from the University of Oklahoma in Norman. |

Kaushik Chakrabarty, MS is the microbiology supervisor. Kaushik’s primary responsibilities include sterility and endotoxin testing, small scale compounding and handling special projects. He has streamlined many of the microbiology department’s procedures in order to enhance aseptic processes and efficiency. He works closely with ARL’s customers to ensure that they receive the highest quality of service and satisfaction.
He graduated with Honors with a B.S. degree in Microbiology from the University of Oklahoma and has a Master’s degree in Physiology from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center where his focus was the innate immune response to Bacillus anthracis, the causative agent of anthrax. Kaushik brings over ten years of research experience to ARL in the fields of ophthalmology, reproduction, and bioterrorism. He has published many papers in scientific journals and has made several poster presentations at the American Thoracic Society conferences.

Kathy Heatherly, MSFS is the wet chemistry supervisor. Her primary responsibilities include data review and approval for chemical analysis, instruction and training of new employees, and analysis utilizing USP, BP, EP and other established methods. She also provides technical support for current and potential clients.
She is dedicated to providing unique niche services to our clients while maintaining the core values of quality, integrity and customer service.
Kathy received her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Southern Nazarene University and her master’s degree in Forensic Science, Criminalistics from the University of Central Oklahoma. |
