Each of the USP chapters listed above outline the testing requirements for nonsterile nutritional and dietary supplements.  For botanical ingredients and products it includes materials such as dried or powdered botanicals, tinctures, and infusions or decoctions.  With dietary supplement ingredients and products it includes raw materials and nutritionals with synthetic or refined ingredients.

These products must meet the acceptable levels for aerobic organisms as well as yeast and molds.  Some products have specific organisms such as E. coli or Pseudomonas that can not be present.
